Anord's Project Value: Excess €2,500,000
Anord's scope of work:

The ventilation system was modelled and designed on the basis of the load conditions specified.  .

The electrical scope of works within each Shaft consisted of the following:

  • Main Power Distribution/Motor Control Centre, which included two no 315KW Regenerative Variable Speed Drives for the Tunnel Blower Fans
  • Sub Main Distribution/Motor Control Centre which included 3No 6 Pulse Variable Speed Drives for the Stairwell Pressurisation Ventilation Fans.
  • UPS System
  • Pre-installation Harmonic Surveys (7 day analysis )
  • Power Cabling
  • Containment
  • Main earthing system
  • Control / Communications cables
  • Cabling associated with lighting and small power
Key features of Project:

This Project involved two 400/275kv cable systems being installed in a tunnel between the electricity substations at West Ham (London Borough of Newham) and Hackney (London Borough of Hackney). without introduction of thermal restrictions that prevent the cables from operating at their designed ratings.

Notable Partnerships:

At an early stage we recognised that this type of project enabled the Anord FSDL partnership to offer the optimum electrical solution. Electrical Design requirements were very much dependent on the results of the airflow dynamics of the Tunnel ventilation requirements. A significant contribution to the successful delivery of the project was due to the strong partnerships, trust and the sharing of knowledge between the Anord /FSDL partnership and the Client during the design development phase of the Project.
